Welcome to the eLearning Tools website. This site is sponsored by Tom Hall (author, trainer, consultant, instructional designer, eLearning developer, certified Degreed Curator and former educator).

This site provides information and demonstrations of products produced with some of the more commonly used eLearning development tools including many examples of products capable of being viewed on mobile devices.

Note: Many of the links below take you to generic (demonstration) samples of eLearning produced with the various tools such as Storyline. I can provide a private showing on request of more extensive work with a focus on Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) since that has been my primary work experience in the last 3-4 years.

Adobe Captivate

Captivate from Adobe is a robust authoring tool that allows you to build most any type of eLearning module. Captivate's strengths lie in its ability to easily record software simulations to be played back as either Demonstrations, Practices, or Assessments. Interactions include several different drag-and-drop components while you also have a library of interactions that are similar to what you find with Articulate Engage. RoboHelp 9

Robohelp 9 from Adobe is a good addition to any eLearning developer's toolkit. It produces a product that is less interactive than the more common tools shown above, but is a good tool to have if your eLearning courses have a need for Online Help.

PowerPoint

For many years, PowerPoint from Microsoft has been a great presentation tool, with most presentations being linear.  However, with features added in recent versions, you can now build a presentation with branching and even simulate showing and hiding of information. Thus it provides a simple and easy solution for some eLearning needs.

The Degreed Learning Platform

The Degreed Learning Platform from Degreed allows curators to create Learning Plans and Learning Pathways specific to particular audiences.

The learning experience can be as simple as a single Pathway that has links to courses, articles, tasks, Podcasts, videos and more. Or it can be a full blown Learning Plan that has content along with links to a collection of Pathways. One of the strengths of Degreed is that a curator or even the learner can identify skills and skill levels and choose content that helps gain competencies.

I have 18 months experience as a certified Degreed Curator where my role was to build and maintain comprehensive learning experiences for several business segments in the Verizion Partner Program.

A summary of this work:

A Featured Learning Plan has been developed for all Verizon Partners. From this Plan, learners are able to select a Learning Plan that is specific to their business segement such as Wireless Business Agents or Wireline Business Agents. Once the learner gets to their specific Onboarding and Products Learning Plan, they find a link to an Onboarding Incuding Compliance Pathway followed by Pathways that provide deep dives into their products. Their Plan also includes links to Pathways that go into detail about the various Systems they need to be familiar with.

Within each Pathway, the learner has links to the following types of Learning Items:

  • Posts

  • Articles

  • Verizon eLearning Courses and vILTs

  • Videos such as those found on YouTube

  • Podcasts

  • Tasks

  • Preferred Vendor Articles and Courses such as edX and Mandel Communications

Along the Learning Journey, the learners can see skills that have been identified and work on building up those skills as well as identifying their own skills and set their skill levels.

For completion of many of the Pathways, the learners can earn Credly Badges which can then be displayed on things like their Linkedin pages or Facebook.

A comprehensive look at the Degreed Learning Platform is available in a private demonstration on request.
