Presenter

Presenter allows you to quickly transform PowerPoint slideshows into interactive Flash content.

The first example here is a simple PowerPoint slideshow that had some animated text and audio. Some text was set up to animate using the various PowerPoint options by 1st paragraph. Using the Articulate Presenter add-on, the audio was synchronized with the animations. Likewise, several different Annotations were added including Arrows, Rectangles, and Spotlights. The published product is set up to be displayed using one of the Player Templates. The product could be set up to be deployed as a SCORM module for LMS deployment.

Note: For the audio, I used TextAloud to convert the text to audio. This provides a great option if you don't have a good voice or don't want to pay to have the audio recorded.

Overview of SPSS

This short presentation shows how the Engage products from above can be organized into one presentation. The presentation also includes a Learning Game created with Presenter.

NC Driver's License Renewal Course

Back Story:

The inspiration for this sample course stemmed from the need I had to review the requirements for a Driver's License Renewal in the state of North Carolina. A first look at the Department of Motor Vehicles website was a bit overwhelming with all the information that was there. All I wanted to know was what I needed to study up on to be able to go into a local office and get my renewal. My thoughts were that if I had to dig into all the information and get to what I needed (mainly a Road Signs test), then I might as well spend my time wisely and create a small sample course with only the necessary information myself or anyone else would need.

This was a perfect opportunity to use the ADDIE model.

Analysis: My first task was fairly simple, the need was basically to get prepared to take the Road Sign test. I wanted to not only present the information in an interactive eLearning format but also provide self-assessments.

Design: At that point, I designed and storyboarded the content with a focus on presenting the information related to what I had to do to get the renewal and presenting the information about Road Signs. Added to this was designing and storyboarding several self-assessments.

Development: Next, and most importantly was to develop the materials and the Articulate Studio with it's three components (Presenter, Engage, and Quizmaker) was a perfect solution with the use of Presenter as the "host" for several Engage Interactions and Quizmaker quizzes.

Implementation: Next, I decided just to put the 3 modules that were developed up on one of my websites and then I just created the three links provided below.

Evaluation: The results of the Evaluation phase and the measure of the effectiveness of the modules will depend upon how I feel I am learning what I need to know and making the needed quiz scores and ultimately whether I pass the Road Signs test or not.

All three modules are built and published using Presenter. The first module has several normal PowerPoint slides with Learning control of navigation. The module also contains 5 Engage Interactions and one Quizmaker quiz made up of Practice Questions. The second module built also in Presenter contains a Quizmaker quiz of 20 randomly presented questions. The third module built also in Presenter contains a Quizmaker quiz with 40 questions pulled randomly from 2 Question Banks that contain a total of 30 questions each.
